It is with great pleasure and a strong sense of purpose that I extend a warm welcome to the newly appointed Board of Trustees of the Independent Development Trust (IDT).

Your appointment comes at a time of renewal and opportunity. As we reaffirm our commitment to being a fit-for-purpose, high-performing public entity. Your collective expertise and oversight will be important in guiding the IDT toward greater impact and sustainability.

I look forward to working closely with you as we foster a culture rooted in accountability, innovation and results-driven performance. Together, we will navigate the next phase of the IDT’s journey with confidence and purpose, ensuring that we remain responsive to the needs of our communities and aligned with government priorities and equipped to deliver on our developmental mandate with excellence.

Board of Trustees

The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure appoints the Board of Trustees as the Accounting Authority for four years. The Board of Trustees is constituted by 12 Trustees. As the Accounting Authority of the IDT, the Board of Trustees has the following fiduciary responsibilities and duties:

Ensure reasonable protection of the assets and records of the public entity (IDT);
Act with fidelity, honesty, integrity and in the best interests of the public entity in managing the financial affairs of the public entity;
Seek, within the sphere of influence of that accounting authority, to prevent any prejudice to the financial interests of the state.

The Board of Trustees has six Committees, namely:

Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee;
Human Resources, Nominations and Remuneration Committee;
Reconfiguration and Transformation Committee;
Social and Ethics Committee;
Core Business, Programmes and Financial Sustainability; and
Chairpersons Committee/ Board Executive Committee
